Votes:0 1 Adventure Photography Blog - Benjamin Pfeiffer The creative exploits and adventures into the world of amateur photography November 09, 2007 Tennessee Warbler I really like how this picture of the Tennessee warbler came out? Soft, cute, and calm. This bird however was one of the most elusive little things to photograph. It zipped around from tree to tree in a frenzy eating little berries and hardly sat still long enough for me to take a picture. Luckily yesterday it sat perched long enough for me to snap a few shots which at one point got me running around following the bird as it tried to land on a window sill. I was determined to get some good shots. This bird is actually a migratory warbler in Texas. Votes:0 Daimler Automobile History Contrary to popular belief, the Daimler Automobile Company is NOT part of Mercedes Benz. The confusion arises due to the fact that in 1896, when the Daimler Company of the U.K. was formed, it was an agent for Gottlieb Daimler's 1 horsepower motorboat engines. When the company purchased the UK patent rights, it retained the Daimler name. The marque has always been British. In the early years, Daimler automobiles were known for their association with the British Royal Family. Until 1950, the primary transportation of the Kings and Queens (and their sons and daughters) were Daimler autombiles. Heads of State worldwide also own and use Daimler Limousines. Such is the case of the royal family of Thailand, who were using this DE36 model Limousine with what is guessed t Read More Go to Site

Beginning in the 1770s, many people tried to make cars that would run on steam. Some early steam cars worked well, and some did not. Some were fire pumpers that moved by themselves, and others were small locomotives with road wheels. Beginning in the 1880s, inventors tried very hard to make cars that would run well enough to use every day. These experimental cars ran on steam, gasoline, or electricity. By the 1890s, Europeans were buying and driving cars made by Benz, Daimler, Panhard, and others, and Americans were buying and driving cars made by Duryea, Haynes, Winton, and others. Votes:0 A Historical Perspective When a heart condition forced Carroll Hall Shelby to end his career as one of America's premiere sports car drivers in 1960, he merely turned his talents to the next most likely avenue - manufacturing. These pages are dedicated to my Grandfather, James Davis McLean who was Vice President and General manager of Shelby American through the "wonder years" and whom I still miss very much. All the photos you are about to see were part of a press package released by Shelby American's P.R. whiz-kid, Max Muhleman back in the mid 60's. In the case of each photo, I will include the actual words in this font while my ramblings will appear as normal text. If you have complaints about how slow the pictures load, you should've seen them before they were reduced. Anyway don't bla Read More Go to Site
Votes:0 The History of the Automobile Starting in the late 1700's, European engineers began tinkering with motor powered vehicles. Steam, combustion, and electrical motors had all been attempted by the mid 1800's. By the 1900's, it was uncertain which type of engine would power the automobile. At first, the electric car was the most popular, but at the time a battery did not exist that would allow a car to move with much speed or over a long distance. Even though some of the earlier speed records were set by electric cars, they did not stay in production past the first decade of the 20th century. The steam-driven automobile lasted into 1920's. However, the price on steam powered engines, either to build or maintain was incomparable to the gas powered engines. Not only was the price a problem, but Read More Go to Site
