Dinosaurs and Evolution Introduction

Dinosaurs and Evolution Jeff Poling with David Buckna INTRODUCTION Toward the end of 1995, a gentleman by the name of David Buckna submitted an article for inclusion in my Journal of Dinosaur Paleontology. This article questions whether dinosaur fossils support evolution. The article is, in my opinion, full of half-truths and obfuscations designed to confuse the reader. I traded several e-mails with Mr. Buckna, outlining my concerns, in the hope he would rewrite the article with an eye toward facts rather than innuendo. Mr. Buckna never responded to my last e-mail, and never submitted a rewritten article. As this article appeared in a Canadian newspaper (or newspapers), I feel an obligation to publish a response. The following series of 11 web pages consist of an unedited (except for spell Read More

We have thousands of these superbly designed molecules coded for in our DNA. Meta Evolution Evolution is able to happen faster than we might otherwise have thought possible. The mechanisms of change in DNA are themselves subject to change. This has a profound effect on the evolutionary process Read More

Geology 105: History of Life Updated: 6/15/98 Course Schedule Course Syllabus Course Topics Lecture Notes Study Guides Homework Assignments Exams Resources Geologic Time Scale History of Life is a 3-unit general education course that discusses the 4 billion year history of life on earth as interpreted from the fossil record. Fossils are recorded in rocks much like your footprints are recorded on a beach. As you walk along the beach, if the sand is fine enough and soft enough, you will make footprints. If the wind and waves do not destroy your footprints, they may record your existance well past your passing. Fossils are "footprints". Against the odds, these records of past life are preserved. In the History of Life, we examine the processes of geology and biology that allow the recording a Read More

The Talk.Origins Archive: Evolution FAQs

Biology and Evolutionary Theory "When the views entertained in this volume ... are generally admitted, we can dimly foresee that there will be a considerable revolution in natural history." - Charles Darwin, The Origin of Species [1859] Introduction to Evolutionary Biology This essay is a must-read for anyone who wants to participate in talk.origins. It lays out the land for evolutionists and creationists alike, presenting the ideas behind and the evidence for biological evolution. What is Evolution? All too often creationists spend their time arguing with a straw-man caricature of evolution. This brief essay presents a definition of evolution that is acceptable to evolutionists. Evolution is a Fact and a Theory Biologists consider evolution to be a fact in much the same way that physicist Read More
