Votes:0 Advances in Art The first Industrial Revolution in 1750, brought drastic change, new inventions were promoted and the factory system
began, but one thing that didn't change was art. Art remained the same, until the 1850's, when the second Industrial
Revolution took place. New ideas and ways to view life changed the way art was perceived. Various political and social
ideas and also the quality of life changed the style of art. Such styles that erupted were romanticism, impressionism and realism. Romanticism features a conception of individual
life, society, and the intertwining of nature and humanity. Romanticists tried to picture and capture beautiful things and
people and in a way tried to turn away from the ugly and desolate side of the Industrial Revolution. Realism, on the other

The Cornaro Riviera Eight palaces of the mighty Cornaro family line the Grand Canal in the S. Marco sestiere. For more than 1,000 years the Cornaro family commissioned the artists and architects of Venice to create palaces, chapels and church art, villas, paintings and theaters. Its male lines are extinct now in the Veneto, but the family found immortality in the art with which it endowed posterity. The art they commissioned and acquired opens a window to the long history and rich artistic fabric of La Serenissima, the Most Serene Republic. Ever since that day some cave man picked up a stick and started writing on his cave wall, there has been literature. You may not think so, but those finger-paintings you made way back in preschool are art. Just about everything is art. Votes:0 Career Handouts | Career Planning & Counseling | Student Services | Home Career Opportunities for Majors in Art History Introduction The academic approach to art history suggests that a culture's nature is best revealed by its art. Art historians apply that principle when comparing past eras in western history or when relating western forms of thought and feeling with those of other cultures. Art history programs offer students the means of immersing themselves in cultural and aesthetic issues. Some students want to pursue careers as curators or archivists at the many museums and galleries across the country. Others, knowing they have an eye for art and design, but lacking the interest in pursuing a career as an artist, use art history to hone their intellectual abilities in art for career Read More Go to Site

In the days before photography, the illustrations manifested details most humans did not have the opportunity to see. The McClung Museum has a notable collection of bird illustrations, thanks to the generosity of two couples, the late Mr. and Mrs. John L. Greer of Knoxville and Mr. and Mrs. Joel E. Greer donated to the McClung Museum an extensive collection of both bound and single folios of hand-painted bird illustrations by John Gould that were published between 1830 and 1881.
